Ingredients
- 225 grams plain flour
- 150 grams butter, cut into small pieces
- 125 grams caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- Sift the flour into a large bowl.
- Add the butter and rub it in with your fingers until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.
- Stir in the caster sugar and vanilla essence and mix together to form a firm dough.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface to a thickness of 1 inch.
- Stamp out hearts with heart shaped cutter.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 175C, for 15- 20 minutes.
- You can dust them with a little caster sugar or decorate it with royal icing.
